Xu Bing’s Tiger Rug
Created with nothing more than half a million cigarettes and a great deal of patience this incredible mock tiger skin rug is the work of the artist Xu Bing.
He’s currently exhibiting this piece at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, highlighting global trade, packaging and how the media seduces us into deadly habits. Ah well, if smoking doesn’t get you then I’m sure the forthcoming food and energy wars should finish us all off.
