Steve Seeley

There’s not much to say about Steve Seeley, his art is right up my street, taking influences from pop culture, comics, thrift store junk, and the general ephemera that most people only glance at on bin days. I wouldn’t exactly call him an enigma, but it’s fair to say the guy isn’t exactly forthcoming when it comes to spilling the beans.

Working for the main part in acrylics, his ‘mini paintings’ offer a style that is both naturalistic and comic, his subject matter as quirky as it gets, he utilises old scraps of wallpaper and comics for many of his backgrounds, and has a penchant for animalistic religious icons. He’s produced three collections so far (all of which I guess are still ongoing), they are The Delicate Matter, Seques, and The Creature Project. Have fun…

Here’s the little I know (or rather can guess) about this highly talented illustrator:

His name’s Steve Seeley (yes we know that already).

He’s a painter who harks from the Mid-West of America (I think).

He’s probably in his early 30′s (Guessing again).

He leans heavily on the lowbrow end of art.
