Sound Paintings by Martin Klimas
German photographer Martin Klimas recently shot this series of ‘Sound Paintings’ created by the unique vibrational signature of music from the likes of Miles Davis, Steve Reich, Kraftwerk. Paint is laid on perspex and rises in liquid stalagmites through the force of amplified sound fields. Through expert timing Klimas has come up with some really interesting photographic results. Something like a slimy Jackson Pollock. I’d love to see the tracks broken down to percussion, vocals, bass, etc. It’d make an awesome (if rather messy) live DJ set…
