Food Glorious Food – Joel Penkman

Maybe it’s because I skipped breakfast but British artist Joel Penkman‘s series of food paintings really make my stomach rumble. It’s rare to see food painted so clearly and accurately without it ending up looking like plastic. There are probably a ton of allegorical metaphors floating around here, but all I can think of is raiding the fridge right now.

Could Joel’s driving force be nostalgia, or a searing (but completely understandable) indictment of the British diet? Either way you can buy Joel’s prints at his Etsy store or contact him about buying an original.
