Curbs & Stoops Active Space Grand Opening

Tomorrow on the 16th will see the opening of a 6,000 sq ft of Curbs & Stoops Active Space in Bushwisk, Brooklyn. Featured artists like will include Sebastian Vallejo, whose vibrantly palette and playful use of materials investigate Caribbean cliches, and Jonathan Chapline whose black and white renderings of found family photographs cast out the gloom of an uneasy and unnerving nostalgia.

Other participating artists will include: Angel Otero, Ashley Zelinskie, Brian Maller, Brian Matthew, Christopher Rivera, Hector Arce, Hector Hernandez, Jason Mones, Jeffrey Pena, Korakrit Arunanondchai, Pep Williams, Rachel LaBine, Lapiztola Collective, UR New York Collective and Super Pop Collective.

    You described it correctly there. Jonathan Chapline’s works are gloomy indeed. The dark shade is so unnerving. That’s a compliment.
